Classroom happenings

We have had a very busy end of winter and start of spring but I'll admit I have not been great about updating this blog...
Here are some photos from our DASH program which ran with the help of some wonderful parent volunteers! Thank you everyone who helped make this possible.

Oops-a late science share!

We have been SO busy these past few weeks! I thought I posted some photos of the amazing Traveling Science Workshop we had from the Acton Discovery Museum. Our in house learning took place in the art room and was so incredible the kids wanted to stay after school to continue learning! Our teacher from the museum told us that their location has just gone through a huge expansion and renovation and will open later this spring.

Check it out: http://www.discoverymuseums.org/

We also had a blast at our Play Day this past Wednesday and at our 100th Day of School celebration on Friday the 9th. I will download some picture of both this week and post them for you to see.
Love will be in the air for Valentine's Day on Wednesday and on Friday afternoon we will head out for February vacation! Thank you for all you have been doing to prepare your child for the weather and for all of the fun we have had in the classroom thanks to your at home work to help them get ready!

Stopping erosion and a little morning tub fun!

Each morning once our morning work is done we have "morning tubs" available to work in small groups (first come first serve!) until we clean up and start our day.

Our final science project in our first science section.

We had to try out an idea after discussing our plan.

Once we tried out that first idea we made any needed changes.

Then we tried our second design to see if we could control the erosion better.

We had a lot of success!

And a lot of fun!

Now we are moving on to our second section: Matter!

Snowflake model making, snow day predictions and a Star of the Week display from last week!

Great partner work helped us create these snowflakes.

On our first day back we made our "snow day" predictions. I have NEVER had more than one student guess the correct day-this year we had EIGHT friends guess Thursday. Clearly Mrs. Salerno needs to watch the weather more closely before doing this activity! :-)

What a nice poster created by Shea our last Star of the Week. Next up: Michael!

Happy New Year and New Blog!

Welcome back everyone and happy start to 2018!
Today we talked a lot about our resolutions for the new year.

After reading Snow Day by Lester L. Laminack we made guesses about the first "snow day".

If any of our guesses come true there will be a prize!
Some photos from our December holiday party! Thank you to Mrs. Russo and Mrs. Hogan for organizing and to all of the yummy treats that were donated.
