Happy New Year!

We had a wonderful end to 2018 in our classroom-my blogging updates leave a lot to be desired...perhaps a New Year resolution for me to update more regularly!

Here are a few late 2018 highlights...

Making OOBLECK in science-what a green mess!

Our holiday party-the Thursday before break. Thank you for all of our volunteers and classroom visitors-so much fun!

Sticks and Stones! We were AMAZING!!

Candy Cane Experiment-discovering what liquid would melt the candy cane first. Hot water, cold water, oil, vinegar and apple sauce! The apple sauce surprised us!

A fun November so far!

We have been busy this November. Earlier this month we met our kindergarten buddies in Mrs. Walker's class. We plan to partner read with them once a month for the remainder of the year!

We also worked on our first group project- learning about spiders. It was a great learning experience and we talked a lot about what worked and what was difficult.

Melting Candy in Science!

Today we worked in groups to look at the different
melting points of candy.

This tied into our science study on matter and when
certain solids can turn to liquids.

This was a tempting experiment but we did it! We played and
worked with candy WITHOUT eating it!

Our first Audubon walking trip

Our theme this year seems to be warm! Yesterday was an unseasonably warm day out on the field but we had a wonderful time and enjoyed the experience.

There will be two more Audubon visits this year-one in the winter
and a final visit in the spring!

What a great start to the year!

We have had a HOT WONDERFUL start to the 2018-2019 school year! Lots of fun getting to know each other and warming up our brains to learn so much together this year.

The heat finally broke on Friday and we enjoyed "Saving Fred" in small groups. Such creative ideas from every group! We also had lots of laughs during this activity!

And many groups truly did "save" Fred!
